Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And for innovators like Pallas Textiles, post-consumer plastics – particularly derived from marine litter – enchant with the prospect of new life as luscious, material rich textiles. Their new sustainable textile collection, titled In Good Company™, which made waves at its debut during this year’s NeoCon, realizes the potential for the oft overlooked ubiquitous resource by utilizing SEAQUAL® YARN for a series of six unique styles. Nearly identical in physical properties to virgin polyester, this high-quality, 100% post-consumer recycled fiber contains approximately 10% plastic from marine litter and 90% post-consumer PET from land sources, which often end up in waterways.
The upcoming official release underscores the brand’s commitment to addressing environmental concerns by integrating eco-friendly practices into their design processes. In collaboration with Limn & Loom and Valdese Weavers, Pallas Textiles and its partners also dedicate a portion of the proceeds from sales of this collection to the SEAQUAL® FOUNDATION, whose role in upcycling marine plastics is pivotal to ocean cleanup and conservation efforts.
What’s more, In Good Company™ is manufactured using domestic sources, fortifying U.S. supply chains while lowering the overall carbon footprint in comparison to overseas operations. Consumers of this product are thereby participating in the global effort to restore maritime ecosystems and safeguard marine life.
The highly anticipated In Good Company™ comprises lush constructions, as one would expect from Pallas Textiles, in patterns Isla, Kai, Hali, Ahti, Llyr, and Maren – each with a distinctive personality. Isla’s elegance comes from fabric featuring layered slub and chenille yarns that evoke light as it dances across natural surfaces. Distinct yet serene, it is sure to pull focus with its captivating aura from scenic colorways. In contrast is Kai, whose structured composition is punctuated by heathered warp and weft yarns while still lending a debonair attitude. A versatile option, it’s available in classic neutral colorways as well as more complex hues for a variety of thoughtful, affordable solutions. Hali breaks from the pack with a novel, nubby boucle yarn that is further enhanced by a chunky weave structure, allowing the fiber to express itself unencumbered. Its plush personality is architectural with a disposition that lends itself to modern curvilinear elements.
The collection continues with an exploration of the ethereal. Just as torchy vocals enchant the ears, so too does Ahti’s velvet materiality captivates its viewers in an exploration of human connection to objects in space. Finespun and easy to care for, its neutrals, jewel tones, and steely pastels provide a high return on investment. Llyr explores the concept of time and taste, with delicately aged undertones, subtle detailing, and an otherwise fairly monochromatic surface for a colorway that will never go out of style. Maren provides a playground for light to dance as slub and chenille yarns conspire once again to entice the eye. It serves as a classically modern treatment to designed spaces and a luxurious anchor in a pointed selection of hues.
“We are particularly proud of the In Good Company collection, which embodies our commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative design,” says Dean Lindsley, Vice President of Pallas Textiles. “This collection not only offers beautiful, high-quality textiles, but also contributes to the vital mission of ocean conservation, with a portion of the proceeds from In Good Company sales directly supporting the SEAQUAL® FOUNDATION.”
