Since 2015, Montreal-based designer Thom Fougere and Toronto’s renowned design store Mjölk have collaborated on a series of collections that blend Fougere’s signature style of refined minimalism with Mjölk’s dedication to masterful craftsmanship, functionality, and understated beauty in everyday objects. Their ongoing partnership continues with a new collection that epitomizes the timeless elegance and utilitarian appeal that define both Fougere’s design philosophy and Mjölk’s ethos.
The Arm Sofa reimagines the classic sofa silhouette with a fresh perspective that stands apart from contemporary trends. Its design distills the essence of traditional seating, highlighted by a solid wood frame that is only made up of the most crucial parts. Available in walnut or white oak, the sofa is a nod to timeless forms with a modern sensibility.
Drawing inspiration from the delicate mechanism of a record player’s tonearm, the Wall Light is a slender fixture designed to complement minimalist spaces. Its handcrafted fiberglass shade casts a warm, ambient glow to a room while also providing focused lighting right beneath the shade. The brass counterweight, threaded along the arm, allows for easy adjustment of the light’s balance and position, catering to the user’s needs and preferences.
Continuing the design language of the Tambour Hutch, the new Tambour Credenza in walnut or white oak features sliding tambour doors that wrap entirely around the back. The soft clicks and clacks as the door opens creates a tactile and auditory experience, while the subtle gap between the doors and the frame again highlights the exceptional craftsmanship of the piece.
Originally constructed as a private commission for a client’s cottage, the Fireside Rocker is coming soon to anyone who craves a cozy seat next to a fire or stove. The low profile gives the seat a more casual style for lounging and its simple design reiterates the beauty of utilitarian design.
To complement the Fireside Rocker, the Fire Tools set has been refined over years of evolution. Essential for tending modern hearths, the set includes a poker, shovel, brush, and base, all crafted from a combination of leather, brass, and solid oak or walnut wood. Each tool balances form with function, ensuring that tending the fire is a moment worth pause, care, and reflection.
